A major milestone for the European insurance industry: EIOPA has published its final package of eight sets of Guidelines and draft technical standards under the Solvency II Review mandate, completing all legal instruments required under the review framework.
The new requirements, together with the broader Solvency II reforms, are set to apply from 30 January 2027.
Key topics covered include:
- Liquidity vulnerability supervision
- Simplified calculation of the risk margin (lambda factor)
- Matching adjustment revisions
- Technical provisions valuation
- Ring-fenced funds
- Disclosure templates
- Group solvency
- Reporting and disclosure requirements
The draft technical standards have now been submitted to the European Commission, which has three months to decide on their adoption.
For insurers, this marks the beginning of the final implementation phase ahead of 2027. Organizations should assess the impact on their capital calculations, reporting frameworks, governance processes, and data requirements to ensure readiness.
